Any attempt to revive old corruption schemes will be harshly and uncompromisingly terminated by the STS – Serhii Verlanov

Today, Chairman of the STS Serhii Verlanov made a working visit to the Main Directorate of the STS in Odessa region in order to personally understand the situation at the Tax service of the region and to announce the start of the work of group on the thematic inspection of organization of work at the local Tax service. All materials resulting from the inspection will be immediately forwarded to the law enforcement agencies.

Chairman of the STS particularly emphasized that any attempt to revive old corruption schemes will be harshly and uncompromisingly terminated by the STS.

“Task of the State tax service is filling the budget by qualitative and convenient services for the taxpayers, effective control over payment of taxes. Who does not want or does not know how to do so should not be a part of the Tax service” – stated Serhii Verlanov.

He also informed that to fulfill the Order of the Prime Minister Oleksii Honcharuk, the STS has started work on developing a recertification plan for all employees of the STS of Ukraine which should be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers within two weeks.

“Personally, I am in a favor of making this recertification as objective, unbiased and transparent as possible. The recertification process for all tax officials must be completed until July 1, 2020.” – said Serhii Verlanov.

Also, Chairman of the STS reported that an anonymous anti-corruption line will be opened at the STS this week. Anyone who has information about the illegal activities of tax officers will be able to report about facts known by them.

“Released by the NABU information has dealt a very serious reputation blow to all tax employees. For now our task is to renew a good name of our service by honest work.” – Serhii Verlanov addressed to all present attendants.

After working meeting Chairman of the STS held a short briefing with representatives of the country’s leading TV channels, where he in particular emphasized that from today the Tax service of Odessa region is working in a regular regime.
