Transport tax: revenues increased by almost half in 5 months – to 140 million UAH

In the first five months of 2026, owners of luxury cars transferred 140.2 million UAH of the transport tax to local budgets. This is 47.1% more than in the same period last year.

In total, 8 978 car owners paid the tax in January – May of this year. Since these funds remain fully at the disposal of local communities, such increase means additional resources for financing local needs and infrastructure.

The biggest amounts of the transport tax came from owners of expensive cars in the following regions:

- Kyiv city – 40.6 million UAH;

- Dnipropetrovsk region – 14.3 million UAH;

- Kyiv region – 10.8 million UAH;

- Lviv region – 10.7 million UAH.

List of passenger cars subject to the transport tax in 2026 has been published on the official website of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

These are cars age of which is not more than 5 years, and whose average market cost exceeds the threshold established by the state (more than 3.2 million UAH in 2026).

Transport tax is payable only by the legal owner of a car (person to whom it is registered), and not by the person who actually uses it (lessees and users by proxy).

Tax rate is fixed – 25 thousand UAH per year for each car.
