Igor Panchenko: transition to the “Kupina” standard will strengthen cybersecurity of the qualified electronic signatures

Starting from September 1, Ukraine will finally switch to the new national cryptographic “Kupina” standard for the qualified electronic signatures. Such transition will significantly increase the cybersecurity level and ensure reliable long-term protection of the qualified electronic signatures.

This was stated live on the Suspilne TV channel by Igor Panchenko, Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization (CDTO).

“We are completely abandoning outdated algorithms in favor of modern cryptographic protection” – Igor Panchenko emphasized.

According to him, in practice this means a higher level of security, as the new standard is much more resistant to modern cyber threats and guarantees reliable long-term protection of personal data.

State Tax Service is ready: as a qualified provider of electronic trust services, the State Tax Service has been generating qualified certificates according to the new standard since August 26.

“No queues and urgent changes: business and citizens do not need to rush to update or reissue existing keys. All previously issued certificates are valid until their expiration date, and signed documents retain full legal force” – said Deputy Head of the State Tax Service.

He emphasized that full interoperability is ensured: systems support work with both old and new standards, so the process is completely seamless and invisible for users.

“State Tax Service continues to systematically update digital infrastructure and make services even more secure and convenient” – Igor Panchenko concluded.
