Serhii Verlanov: Tax service of the future – is convenient and fast service in the smartphone

The key tasks, ideas, current developments and achievements of the new Tax service just for three months of its activity were discussed by Chairman of the STS Serhii Velanov during the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine Tobias Thyberg.

Among the priorities for development of the Tax service, Serhii Verlanov noted the voluntariness of paying taxes due to the comfortable and quality service for the taxpayers and widespread introduction of digital technologies in all tax administration processes.

“We are working hard to build a real partnership with the taxpayers. First of all, this is meeting the needs of the taxpayers in modern, convenient and understandable services that will ensure easy payment of taxes and will distance the taxpayers completely. Much has been done by me and my team in this direction. The STS is on the way to digitize its own services and administration processes. This process will be facilitated by the possibility of using the software RCO.” – stated Serhii Verlanov.

Once again, he reminded that the software RCO was developed by the State Tax Service, subsequently it will be free to download and maintain. At the same time, the business entities will be able to develop their own software product at their will or need, or to purchase the software they like best on the market.

“Tax service of the future – is convenient and fast service in the smartphone that will completely minimize the corruption risks, as well as make it possible to pay taxes anytime and anywhere” – emphasize Serhii Verlanov.

Also, Chairman of the STS determined review of the tax audit practices and improvement of risk-oriented taxpayer selection system for audits as priority in the work of tax specialists. This should reduce the number of audits, increase the amount of payments made on the basis of its results and reduce the number of litigation between the tax specialists and taxpayers.

In turn, the Swedish side, in support of the chosen course of Ukrainian tax specialists, assured of further cooperation and methodological help. In particular, according to Tobias Thyberg the ongoing dialogue with business in a two-way format is a crucial task on the way to any change, and Swedish experts are ready to help and take part in this dialogue.
