The STS promised President to fulfil 100% of the plan on “alcohol” excise tax and kept its word – Serhii Verlanov

In August-November 2019, the State budget of Ukraine received 2 342.1 million UAH of the excise tax on alcohol beverages which is by 48.6 million UAH or 2.1% more than in the same 2018. In November 2019, the indicative figures of revenues from the excise tax on alcohol beverages were fulfilled by 102.2%. The budget received 813.4 million UAH or 277.1 million UAH (+ 51.7%) more than in November 2018.
The STS ensured such result due to improving administration efficiency and enhancing the counteraction against shady turnover of alcohol. In particular, implementation of the electronic alcohol administration system, as well as daily monitoring of indicators of the flowmeters of produced alcohol gave the Tax service an ability to control its movement from the place of production to the consumers (in particular, the distillery).
“New Tax service has already started working in the way that the shadow market of tobacco and alcohol does not feel free. At the beginning of the month, I personally promised President that the plan on “alcohol” excise tax would be fulfilled and kept this word. Unshadowing process upon the alcohol turnover is ongoing. The next step is the introduction of an electronic excise stamp that will take control upon the turnover of excisable goods to the new level and will significantly improve tax rates” – stated Serhii Verlanov.

On the 1st of November 2019, in Ternopil was held a working meeting on development of the alcohol industry with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Chairman of the State Tax Service Serhii Verlanov. Chairman of the STS informed the audience about the measures of the State Tax Service regarding the market of alcohol beverages and assured that the result of work will ensure the completeness of excise tax revenues to the state budget.
