Law “On the demonopolization of the alcohol market” has been published

Law “On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the state regulation of production and turnover of ethyl alcohol, cognac and fruit alcohol, alcohol beverages, tobacco and fuel” on the liberalization of activities in the sphere of ethyl alcohol production” has been signed by the President of Ukraine and published in the edition “Holos Ukrayiny”.
Document becomes valid on the day following its publication and shall enter into force on the 1st of July 2020.
It should be reminded that in particular the Law prescribes the abolition of the state monopoly on alcohol production from the 1st of July 2020, enabling business entities of any form of ownership to carry out alcohol production activities within the condition of obtaining the relevant license, full liberalization of alcohol export from Ukraine.
At the same time, in order to protect of the domestic commodity producer, it is envisaged that only enterprises authorized by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine can import alcohol until the 1st of January, 2024.
