964 million UAH of the environmental tax was transferred to the state budget to eliminate environmental damage in January-February 2020

Environmental tax payers transferred nearly 964 million UAH to the state budget to eliminate environmental damage in January-February 2020 – this is 19.9% or 160 million UAH more than in January-February 2019.

At the expense of these funds, the state and local governments are able to finance activities that are being undertaken to protect, restore the environment and the rational use of natural resources.

It should be reminded that the environmental tax is paid by the taxpayers whose activities are related to the emission of pollutants into the air. Namely, stationary sources of contamination, discharge of pollutants directly into the water bodies, disposal of wastes in specially designated areas or sites, generation of radioactive wastes and temporary storage of radioactive wastes by their manufacturers are beyond the special conditions of the license.

Previously it was reported that in line with the legislative changes in 2019, the environmental tax rate for carbon dioxide emissions was raised from 0.41 to 10 UAH per ton.
