In June 2020, the State Tax Service will hold a number of measures aimed at un-shadowing the excisable product market. This was stated by the Chairman of the State Tax Service Oleksiy Lyubchenko during a meeting with representatives of tobacco companies, which was held at the State Tax Service.
“We announced the counteraction against illegal products on the excisable product market. We analyzed functioning of the industry, outlined problematic points, identified schemes and now we are starting to destroy them. These will be unpopular measures, but we will, of course, take them into account, given the quarantine precautions” – emphasized Oleksiy Lyubchenko.
According to him, the counteraction against the illegal market is impossible without the participation of honest representatives of the industry. After all, due to machinations and the use of various schemes, honest taxpayers suffer losses primarily due to unfair competition.
“We know the scheme turnovers, we know their directions and this situation does not suit us. We see institutional opportunities to change this. And in this we need the support from business that operates transparently. We have to deal with the shadow market turnover and offer levels for all rules of the game” – outlined Chairman of the STS.
Oleksiy Lyubchenko also noted that international experts will be involved for effective implementation of all measures. Their advisory assistance and experience will allow making a comprehensive analysis of situation and identifying the best ways to solve problems.
In turn, representatives of the tobacco industry expressed readiness to cooperate, as they are interested in the market transparency. They are ready to gather at a round table, share their experiences, vision of situation and jointly bring order to the tobacco product market.
