93.3 million UAH was paid by individuals to local budgets in 2020

Success of local self-governments largely depends on the amount of financial resources that are in possession to perform public functions.

Local self-government through indirect measures, such as creation of working places, increasing territorial investment attractiveness, exercising proper control over the use of natural resources, preventing payments “in the envelopes”, etc. is able to ensure revenues growth of local budgets.

Growth of tax revenues of local budgets is due to payment of local taxes and fees, particularly the transport tax. 93.3 million UAH was paid to local budgets by individuals – transport tax payers during January – December 2020.

STS conducts administration of property tax acquired by citizens, namely luxury cars.

843 citizens purchased 855 cars of 2020 production year in 2020, the average market cost of which is more than 1.771.1 thousand UAH, including 151 cars worth more than 3 million UAH. 4 of these citizens submitted declarations of assets, income, expenses and liabilities of a financial nature for 2019 to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention.

This fact is noteworthy because it indirectly indicates financial capacity of citizens. Increase of citizens’ financial capabilities is a positive fact.

Since one of the main functions of the STS is to control timeliness, accuracy and completeness regarding payment of taxes, therefore it is important that taxes are paid on time from all taxable income of citizens.

Citizens’ obligation to pay taxes is defined by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine. Timely payment of taxes will allow citizens to freely use available funds, including for the purchase of luxury items.

STS within the implementation of tax policy functions initiates expansion of transport tax base to the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine. However, McLaren car models such as the 720 S, 570 S, 540 C, with an estimated cost of more than 200 thousand USD, are absent on the official website of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine in 2020 and therefore were not subject to taxation.
