Implementation of strategic directions of the STS’s development was a topic of discussion during the meeting of representatives of the State Tax Service and the Swedish Tax Agency in project “UKRAINE – SWEDEN: Partnership for modern and efficient Tax service – the METS”.
Meeting was attended by acting Chairman of the STS Yevhen Oleinikov, heads of structural divisions of the STS and experts of the Swedish Tax Agency, headed by its tax director for international relations, long-term expert of the METS project in Ukraine Arne Jakobsson.
“Swedish Tax Agency is one of the most transparent in Europe, has the highest level of tax compliance and public confidence. Therefore, the best practices of the Swedish Tax Agency, position and experience of professionals working directly in the agency are very important for the STS.” – stated Yevhen Oleinikov.
He emphasized that the State Tax Service of Ukraine continues to implement reforms in the areas defined by strategic documents of the Government of Ukraine and the STS. Goals of the joint METS project, which was also launched last year, are fully in line with strategic goals of the Service’s development: transformation of the STS into more modern, reliable, efficient and service-oriented body.
“Practical steps we have taken to implement the reforms, which we have carried out with support of our international partners, have proved to be effective and have made it possible to achieve significant results, which the STS has demonstrated to the public, particularly in tax administration. Progress is obvious. So we have confidence in the prospects of our cooperation. We need to work to gain the trust of society and experience of Swedish colleagues – one of the best in this matter” – emphasized Yevhen Oleinikov.
Representatives of the Swedish Tax Agency expressed readiness to continue effective cooperation within the METS project and stressed the importance of mutual exchange of experiences.
Experts of the METS project also gave a presentation of the activities formats of the Swedish Tax Agency.
