VAT evasion scheme totaling more than 17 million UAH was exposed in Chernihiv region

Tax officials of Chernihiv region within the framework of working out tasks of the Temporary Commission of Inquiry of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine exposed economic entity, which during 2019-2020 with sales of more than 450 million UAH did not pay any UAH of the value added tax to the budget. This entity carries out its activity in construction of roads of the state and local significance both in the territory of Chernihiv and other regions.

Employees of Main Directorate of the STS in Chernihiv region detected that that the specified economic entity has formed the VAT tax credit through the purchase of bitumen, sand, gravel of unknown origin from more than 30 suppliers. In fact, these supplier contractors using so-called the “VAT scrolls” deliberately formed tax benefit for this entity to avoid the VAT payment. Suppliers did not have employees, production resources and they are involved in criminal proceedings.

Such “scroll” resulted in the tax credit scheme and value added tax evasion which amounted to more than 17 million UAH to the budget.
