Ruslan Kravchenko at a meeting with business of Mykolaiv region: Entrepreneurs must have a clear roadmap on how to get rid of the risky status

Head of the State Tax Service Ruslan Kravchenko, together with the State Tax Service’s team, met with more than 70 business representatives of the Mykolaiv region. Meeting was joined by Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitalii Kim. 

Main discussed questions were support for business that works in a wartime, enforcement of the court decisions, fair tax burden and the VAT refunding.

Ruslan Kravchenko noted that the region is going through a difficult time because of the war. Ports are not working, constant shelling, destroyed infrastructure and logistics, shortage of employees. Despite all the risks, the region’s business is looking for new opportunities, attracting international partners, so that even in these conditions it can pay taxes and support economy. 

Head of the State Tax Service thanked business of the Mykolaiv region for their steadfastness. Last year, taxpayers of the region paid almost 23 billion UAH to budgets of all levels. Revenues increased by 19% compared to 2023. 

Ruslan Kravchenko noted that the top topic, as in all the regions, is suspension of tax invoices and their classification as risky. This indicator decreased throughout Ukraine to 0.39% in February. In the Mykolaiv region, this indicator has also decreased almost by half since the beginning of year, and more than 200 entities have lost their risky status. 

"However, there are still cases when business does not fully understand what needs to be done to get out of the risks. Therefore, I have set the task for tax officials to develop a roadmap for the taxpayer processing each such case. There is a clear step-by-step document for getting out of the risk status, which will significantly simplify communication and reduce the conflict level. There is an algorithm – follow it and there will be no problems. If the business has done it, but it is not removed – then there are already questions towards the Tax Service. Entrepreneur cannot be at the risk for years if there is no reason for this" – said Head of the State Tax Service.

Another question is un-shadowing of the economy. He emphasized that honest business seeks equal conditions for all, as it cannot fully compete with those who work in the "shadow" and pay salaries in the envelopes, or seek other schemes to avoid paying taxes.

"That is why today, together with the State Financial Monitoring Service and Economic Security Bureau, we are looking for new effective mechanisms so that the counteraction against the shadow economy is real, not spot-on" – stated Ruslan Kravchenko.

According to Head of the State Tax Service, this format of communication with those who work for the economy of Ukraine is important, because it gives business understanding of the future changes and the opportunity to influence processes.
