Owners of luxury cars paid 220 million UAH of the transport tax: three regions are among the leaders

Owners of luxury cars paid almost 220 million UAH of the transport tax last year. A third came from car enthusiasts in Kyiv.

Local budgets received 37% or 59 million UAH more in 2024, than in 2023. At the same time, number of car owners who paid the tax also increased. There were 7393 people in 2023; in 2024 – 10217.

The vast majority of payers are individuals, 7193 car owners paid 136.2 million UAH. Herewith, more than 3000 legal entities transferred 83.5 million UAH of the tax.

Almost a third of the tax paid last year, namely 62.2 million UAH from Kyiv taxpayers.  

Also among the leaders:

Dnipropetrovsk region – 21.2 million UAH,

Odesa region – 18.8 million UAH,

Kyiv region – 17.2 million UAH.

Reminder! Transport tax is paid by owners of passenger cars that were manufactured not more than 5 years ago. Average market cost of such cars must exceed 375 times the minimum wage established by the law as of January 1 of the tax (reporting) year (2 662 500 UAH in 2024, 3 000 000 UAH in 2025).

Transport tax rate is 25 thousand UAH for each car.

List of passenger cars is determined by the Ministry of Economy, the full list is posted on its official website (www.me.gov.ua) every year by February 1 of the tax (reporting) year.

The following car brands were added to the list in 2024: AstonMartin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, GMC Hummer, Jaguar, Lamborghini, LandRover, Lexus, McLaren, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, Toyota. In total, 488 models were subject to taxation.

352 car brands have been determined, owners of which will have to pay transport tax in 2025.

Legal entities will receive a notification about the accrued transport tax amount in their Electronic cabinet.

Tax notifications-decisions will be generated for individuals and sent by mail to the place of their tax address. If individuals submitted application for correspondence with the State Tax Service’s authorities electronically, accrual will be sent to their Electronic cabinet.
