State Tax Service of Ukraine continues to implement principles of accessibility and inclusion, creating comfortable service conditions for all taxpayers – regardless of their physical abilities.
Particularly, the sign language interpretation service has been introduced for citizens with hearing impairments at the Taxpayer Service Centers of Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in Kyiv. Now taxpayers can receive administrative services quickly, clearly and taking into account their individual needs.
How it works in Kyiv:
- stickers with a special QR code are placed near the service windows;
- after scanning the code on personal smartphone, a video call opens with a professional interpreter from the Ukrainian Society of Deaf (UTOG);
- real-time translator helps to establish communication between the visitor and the tax specialist.
Similar sign language translation service is also available Taxpayer Service Centers in Volyn region.
How to use the service:
- payer must inform the Taxpayer Service Center’s specialist about the need for the sign language interpreter;
- specialist will provide video connection with a professional interpreter from the UTOG, who will accompany the dialogue.
State Tax Service continues to work to ensure that physical obstacles and communication barriers do not become obstacles to providing quality services to the taxpayers. Geography expansion of providing the sign language interpretation services for citizens with hearing impairments continues.
Among other accessibility elements, tactile strips and markings for people with visual impairments, as well as staff call buttons for visitors with limited mobility, have been implemented in the Taxpayer Service Centers of the State Tax Service.
Measures are being implemented within the strategy strategy for creating a barrier-free space in Ukraine, initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
