“Taxes protect”: new communication campaign of the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service

Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the State Tax Service, is launching communication campaign “Taxes protect”.

In a series of infographics and videos, will be explanations with specific real-life examples:

- the most common tax situations faced by citizens of Ukraine;

- procedure and peculiarities of paying taxes;

- how taxes are distributed between the state and local budgets;

- in what directions the state directs funds paid by the taxpayers;

- what consequences tax evasion can have.

Today there is example of blogger Maria, who pays taxes on her TikTok advertising income.

Imagine Maria. She is 22 years old and runs a popular TikTok blog. By promoting Ukrainian and foreign brands, Maria earns about 60 thousand UAH per month (180 thousand UAH/quarter, 720 thousand UAH/year). To legalize income, she registered her activities as individual-entrepreneur of Group III. This allows her to officially provide advertising services and receive payment from both Ukrainian and foreign companies.

Every quarter, Maria submits tax declaration through the “My Tax Service” application and pays taxes and obligatory insurance premiums.

Result for the year looks like this:

If Maria evades income taxes and receives payment for her advertising services on a personal bank card, cryptocurrency or cash, then:

- Ukrainian military personnel may be left without high-quality tourniquets to quickly stop bleeding and save lives of their comrades,

- there will be no way to replace the old Soviet refrigerator in the kindergarten, and the food will spoil quickly,

- state social insurance funds will not receive sufficient funding, so, if necessary, Maria may be left without necessary social guarantees and payments.
