“Taxes protect” campaign: Story of Petro and Sophia’s greenhouse farm

Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the State Tax Service, continues “Taxes protect” communication campaign. In previous materials, there were explanations what taxes the TikTok blogger Maria and hired employee – architect Vasyl pay.

Today there is the third life situation. This time the talk will be about a couple, Petro and Sofia, who rent greenhouses and grow vegetables. Find out what taxes entrepreneurs working in the greenhouse sector pay and how their contributions help the state and communities perform important functions.

So: the couple Petro and Sofia rented several greenhouses. On the area of ​​0.5 hectares, they grow herbs, vegetables and berries, which they then sell on the market and through social networks. The couple’s annual income is 600 thousand UAH.

For income legalization, Petro and Sofia each registered their activities as individuals-entrepreneurs of Group II. This allows them to officially sell agricultural products at markets, fairs and online.

Once a year, the couple submits tax declaration through the taxpayer’s Electronic cabinet on the State Tax Service’s website. They also pay military levy, single tax and single social contribution every month.

If Petro and Sofia receive payment for vegetables they grow and do not declare their income and pay appropriate taxes, then:

- the military will not have high-quality radios for communication on the battlefield,

- children in the  kindergarten will be left without tasty hot food,

- state social insurance funds will not be replenished and spouses will not receive social insurance and corresponding payments.
