"Taxes protect": the designer Maksym’s story

Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the State Tax Service continue to talk about life situations in which tax liabilities arise as ф part of the communication campaign "Taxes protect".

Today’s story is about what taxes Lviv designer Maksym pays on his additional income from renting out an apartment.

23-year-old Maksym works as a designer in an agency in Lviv. He rents out his apartment in Uzhgorod for 15 thousand UAH per month (45 thousand UAH/quarter; 180 thousand UAH/year). Maksym has registered his activities as an individual-entrepreneur of Group II. This allows him to officially provide rental services to citizens of Ukraine and single tax payers (i.e. other individuals-entrepreneurs and LLCs).

Once a year, Maksym submits tax declaration through the Taxpayer’s Electronic cabinet on the State Tax Service’s web portal. Every month, he pays military levy and single tax. Maksym pays the other two taxes (personal income tax at 18% and military levy at 5%) and single social contribution as employee of the agency.

Result for the year looks like this:

If Maksym receives rent payments on the personal bank card, in cryptocurrency or cash and does not pay income taxes, then:

- militaries will not have a quality daily meal,

- children in the kindergarten will be left without hot lunches.
