State Tax Service and National Tax Administration of Poland have taken another step towards deep international cooperation. Acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh and Head of the National Tax Administration of Poland Marcin Loboda signed Memorandum of cooperation.
Event was also attended by the Voivode of Lublin Krzysztof Komorski, Mayor of Lublin Krzysztof Zuk, representatives of the State Tax Service and National Tax Administration of Poland.
“This is a new cooperation level that takes into account all modern challenges – security situation, European integration processes, need to improve quality of services for the payer” – Lesya Karnaukh emphasized during the signing.
She noted that Poland is our reliable and strategic partner, which is close to us in the most difficult time that Ukraine is currently going through. Acting Head of the State Tax Service recalled that one of the important projects that was successfully implemented during the full-scale invasion was placement of the state information resources of the State Tax Service in a mobile data processing center of the Republic of Poland. And this allowed Ukrainian Tax Service to ensure stability of critical information systems in the war conditions and constant attacks on the infrastructure. This is about the real support!
Despite russian aggression, Polish investors continue to work and develop their business. In total, there are more than 1.4 thousand business entities in Ukraine with a significant share of Polish capital. Amount of taxes paid by them for 11 months of this year is more than 6 billion UAH.
“Important aspect is effective exchange of tax information between our countries. We have been working for many years on the basis of conventions that regulate this aspect. And there are no problems between the tax authorities of Ukraine and Poland” – Lesya Karnaukh added.
What does the new Memorandum provide for?
Strategic cooperation areas:
– European integration processes and adaptation to the EU standards.
Tax sphere is one of the important and sensitive parts of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Experience of the European institutions, taking into account Ukrainian realities, is extremely important to us;
– counteraction against shadow economy.
We improve analytical tools to reduce illicit trade and tax evasion;
- improvement of digital services for the taxpayers.
Exchange of practices on electronic services and process automation. This will make Tax Service more convenient and understandable for both people and business;
– deepening exchange of tax information according to the international standards.
This will allow for even more rapid detection of risky transactions and control of the cross-border schemes. Everything is standardized and without unnecessary barriers;
– advanced training of specialists.
This involves joint training programs and exchange of practices between our specialists, including with involvement of the National School of Public Administration in Poland;
– strengthening institutional capacity of the tax administrations of both countries.
We are working on improving management standards and processes.
“The war did not put a pause on our desire for change. We have a unique chance to make the tax system humane, working for every taxpayer. And we are grateful to our international partners who help in this” – added acting Head of the State Tax Service.
