More than 621.9 thousand payers transferred 48.3 billion UAH of the personal income tax to the budget in January 2026.
This is 14.2% more than in the same period last year. Then amount of paid personal income tax amounted to 42.3 billion UAH.
Regional leaders in terms of the personal income tax payments:
- Kyiv city – 11.6 billion UAH;
- Dnipropetrovsk region – 4.8 billion UAH;
- Lviv region – 3.2 billion UAH;
- Kyiv region – 2.9 billion UAH.
Important: personal income tax payers have opportunity to return part of the paid tax by taking advantage of a tax rebate.
If a person is officially employed and have incurred certain expenses during the year, the state provides a mechanism for partial compensation of funds.
For what it is possible to get tax rebate for?
- Education: payment for tuition in domestic institutions of preschool, extracurricular, general secondary, vocational (vocational-technical) and higher education (own or first-degree family members).
- Housing rental: for internally displaced persons, combatants and persons with disabilities as a result of war.
- Medicine: costs of assisted reproductive technologies.
- Mortgage: interest on a mortgage loan.
- Charity: contributions to the non-profit organizations.
- Insurance: contributions under the long-term life insurance contracts.
How to do this?
To get a rebate, submit annual property status and income tax declaration to the Tax Service at one’s registration place (or online via the taxpayer's Electronic cabinet). It is possible to do this by the end of current year for the previous calendar year.
