Residents of Odessa region paid 273.2 million UAH of the military levy to the budget during January – April 2020, which is 27 million UAH or 11% more than during the corresponding period in 2019. Namely, 64.2 million UAH was paid in army’s support in April 2020.
Important source of filling the state treasury is the work of tax authorities of Odessa region aimed at legalization of the labor market and counteract the payment of unofficial wages. Positive dynamics of the military levy revenues growth is a confirmation of the fact that more and more employers refuse to pay salaries in the “envelopes” and officially register employees.
It should be reminded that the military levy was introduced in Ukraine in August 2014 as an additional source of funding and support for the army. The rate of this payment is 1.5% of taxable income. Payers of the military levy are individuals – residents and non-residents who receive income in Ukraine. Employers are responsible for paying the levy to the budget calculating income in the form of wages in the taxpayer’s favor. Military levy is transferred to the state budget in full amount.
It is worth remembering that payment of the military levy is of every citizen’s contribution to strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukrainian army and establishing peace in our country.
