Communities should work much more actively to expand tax base. This will increase revenues to local budgets and their financial capacity. This was stated by acting Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Lesya Karnaukh during the meeting with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Association of Communities.
“In the first half of the year, tax and levy revenues to local budgets increased by almost 16% compared to the last year. But I know that potential is even greater. And the task of communities is, first of all, to do everything to ensure that tax base constantly grows. Every hectare of land, every real estate object, every workplace and every legal business must be reflected in the state registers and work for communities’ development. These are funds that go to development of social and infrastructure projects on the ground” – she stated.
According to her, very often erroneous accrual of property taxes occurs precisely because of incorrect information in registers.
State Tax Service has already intensified cooperation with communities. Information exchange, data reconciliation, joint identification of problematic aspects and their prompt resolution – this is systematic substantive assistance that we provide.
One more important question raised by communities is the personal income tax payment at the place of activity.
Participants discussed mechanisms that would allow communities to monitor payment correctness of this tax and to promptly respond in cases where funds are not paid to the right budget.
“Quality service. This is one of the priority tasks facing by the State Tax Service. The service must be high-quality, timely and effective. So that people do not spend a lot of time communicating with the Tax Service. This is about automatic data registration, active cooperation between the state authorities, information exchange and one-click tax payment. Today, 20 Tax Consultant Offices and 84 online points, 261 Taxpayer Service Centers operate in Ukraine. And we are actively developing services so that people, regardless of their residence place, receive proper services” – Lesya Karnaukh added.
Acting Head of the State Tax Service also noted that for the tax community, they are partners in creating honest economy, where every UAH works for development of territories.
