Declaration campaign 2020: citizens declared 94.5 billion UAH or 11 billion UAH more than in 2019

On June 30, the citizens’ income declaration campaign for 2019 ended. This year’s declaration campaign had its differences from the previous years. Due to the introduction of quarantine measures in Ukraine, the deadline for submitting property and income declarations was extended. In addition, the declaration process has become much more complicated, as the vast majority of citizens submit declarations in a paper form.

However, despite the difficult situation, citizens have shown a conscientious attitude to the constitutional obligation – almost 505 thousand of property and income declarations have been submitted to the controlling bodies since the beginning of 2020.

Total income declared by the taxpayers has amounted 94.5 billion UAH, which is almost 11 billion UAH or 13 percent more than in the same period of 2019.

The largest amounts of income were declared by the taxpayers of Kyiv city, namely 43.5 billion UAH, Dnipropetrovsk region – 7.5 billion UAH, Kyiv region – 5.3 billion UAH, Kharkiv region –4.6 billion UAH and Odessa region – 4.3 billion UAH.

Tax liabilities from the personal income tax were determined by taxpayers in the amount of 2.7 billion UAH, from the military tax – 0.4 billion UAH.

It should be noted that a significant increase in the payable tax was determined by citizens of Dnipropetrovsk region (+71.5 million UAH), Kyiv region (+37.8 million UAH) and Lviv region (+27.2 million UAH).

Revenue of the personal income tax from payment of income declared by citizens is one of the reserves for filling local budgets. At a rather difficult time for the country, citizens must understand that by submitting declaration and paying this tax, they support the local budget which shapes regional social policy.
