In recent days, fake e-mails were being sent out across the country on a massive scale “on behalf” of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. This was informed by acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh on the Facebook page.
“E-mail’s topic is notification about conducting “financial audit regarding legalization of funds” in regard to certain organization. I emphasize! State Tax Service has nothing to do with this e-mailing, so we ask everyone to be careful” – Lesya Karnaukh emphasized.
E-mails contain malware. Opening attached file launches a malicious program that creates technical opportunities for covert unauthorized access to the user’s personal computer. There is a real risk of personal computers being infected with viruses.
In addition, messages are sent from the e-mail addresses that are in no way connected with the State Tax Service of Ukraine.
State Tax Service advises to:
not open attachments in suspicious e-mails;
follow rules of personal cyber hygiene;
be careful and attentive even when receiving messages from known recipients – attackers can forge the sender’s address;
if possible, check authenticity of received e-mail, confirming the fact that it was sent by the sender.
