Modern methods of identifying, assessing and analyzing tax risks and applying risk-based approaches to audits were studied by State Tax Service’s specialists during a training course with participation of experts from the International Monetary Fund.

Participants learned about the international practices and key risks specific to different categories of taxpayers – from large companies to small and medium-sized business.

Practical cases were of particular value. They allowed participants to discuss real-world situations taking into account regional specifics, to verify effectiveness of the risk-based auditing and to develop common approaches to identifying priority risks. This made it possible to see how modern auditing methods work in practice.

Specialists of the State Tax Service have gained new knowledges and practical experience that will complement already implemented risk-based approaches and help improve processes of organizing, planning and conducting audits. This will increase quality and effectiveness of the tax control.

State Tax Service already operates according to principles of the risk-based approach and such training initiatives with participation of the international experts are important component of formation of modern, effective and risk-based tax control system.
