Donetsk region is one of the most powerful industrial regions of Ukraine. But the industrial development of Donetsk region has not only positive sides. There is a big number of large mining, metallurgical, chemical, machine-building and agro-industrial branches and enterprises on the territory of Donetsk region. Almost the entire territory of Donetsk region is involved in economic turnover which leads to a significant burden on natural resources and serious environmental problems. Therefore, control over the collection of environmental tax, as one of the financial compensators for natural damage, is and will remain one of the urgent tasks of the regional Tax service.
Almost 484 million UAH of the environmental tax was transferred from Donetsk enterprises during January – May 2020. According to the distribution of tax funds, local budgets of the region received 299 million UAH for environmental restoration and the state budget received 184.7 million UAH.
The average monthly rate of environmental tax revenues during 5 months of 2020 amounted nearly 97 million UAH.
Paying the environmental tax, enterprises partially compensate the negative consequences of their economic activities and contribute to the restoration of natural resources.
