Ukraine and International Monetary Fund have agreed on the new three-year cooperation program worth 4 billion Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (about $ 5.52 billion). This was revealed by the results of the telephone conversation between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Heorhiieva.

“Our conversation with Managing Director Kristalina Heorhiieva was very constructive. I’m glad that we have found full understanding and our turbo-mode has been praised by the IMF. I am grateful to the Parliament, Government and our entire team for their tireless work for the sake of Ukraine. New Monetary Fund Cooperation Program aims to accelerate economic growth, actively eradicate corruption and increase the well-being of every Ukrainian” – stated Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

According to official IMF press release, during the telephone conversation, Kristalina Heorhiieva thanked President Volodymyr Zelenskyi for the astounding progress that he and his Government have achieved in promoting the reform and continuing sound economic policies. The IMF Managing Director also assured the President about the IMF’s readiness to support the government’s political agenda to put economy to the higher growth.

“It is symbolic that we received the Staff-Level Agreement under the new IMF support program within 100 days of the Government. Support from such large systemic institutions is a marker of trust to the country. So, for us, there will be cheaper resources – for all business and all Ukrainians it means that the economy will grow faster, there will be more jobs, higher wages” – stated the Prime Minister Oleksii Honcharuk.
