Employers officially registered employment of nearly 400 thousand employees in February 2020

Employers submitted 223.2 thousand employment notifications for 399.7 thousand hired individuals in February 2020. This is 10.6% more than in February 2019 (361.4 thousand hired individuals) and 2.5% more than in January 2020 (390 thousand hired individuals).

In addition, the number of citizens who officially registered as business entities has also increased. As follows, their number was 31.6 thousand in February 2020 – this is 51.9% more than in February 2019 (20.8 thousand) and 51.2% more than in in January 2020 (20.9 thousand).

Such dynamics is explained by the quality awareness campaign aimed at legalization of wages and employment. Specifically, specialists of the STS conduct an active explanatory work with employers and their employees about the inadmissibility of hired labor without registered working relations, payment of the non-taxed wages and single social contribution to compulsory state social insurance.

As a result of such meetings, employers submitted 426.5 thousand notifications of hiring 789.8 thousand individuals during January – February 2020. During the corresponding period of 2019, employers submitted 396.4 thousand notifications of hiring 740.6 thousand individuals.

The biggest number of employment notifications was submitted by employers in the sphere of:

retail sale mainly of food groceries, beverages and tobacco in the non-specialized stores – 49.3 thousand employees;

restaurants and mobile catering services – 32.5 thousand employees;

construction of residential and non-residential buildings – 18.2 thousand employees.

Also, 52.5 thousand individuals registered as business entities during January – February 2020 – this number is 34.3% more than during the same period of 2019 (39.1 thousand individuals).

“Due to the joint efforts of the State Labor Service, Pension Fund and other controlling authorities we achieved the increase in number of notifications on conclusion of employment contracts in January 2020. We see that this tendency continued in February. We do not stop there. Work on legalization of employment and un-shadowing of wages will continue. This will allow budgets of different levels receive additional revenues and provide employees with social guarantees” – emphasized Chairman of the STS Serhii verlanov.
