No one will demand payment of taxes in Ukraine from citizens who have already paid them abroad – Oleksiy Lyubchenko

, published 21 January 2021 at 17:03

Receiving foreign income, citizens must submit property and income declaration. This was stated by Chairman of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko in an interview with the online publication “Gordon”.

“General rule is simple: Ukrainian citizens pay taxes on the income they receive and no matter where. We have signed double taxation agreements with absolutely all countries where our people work. If our citizens have paid taxes abroad: in Poland, Hungary, Portugal or elsewhere than no one in Ukraine has a right to demand taxes from them. All they have to do is to submit the tax declaration” – emphasized Oleksiy Lyubchenko.

Obligation to submit property and income declaration, as well as payment of taxes and fees is defined in Article 67 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

At the same time, if citizen received income abroad and this especially applies to Ukrainian workers and paid taxes there, then providing supporting documents, he / she will not have to pay taxes again in Ukraine.
