Illegal activity of tobacco manufacturer was exposed

State Tax Service of Ukraine constantly carries out control and verification measures to prevent and detect legislative violations made by the taxpayers involved in production, storage and wholesale of excisable goods (products).

Monitoring results of social networks’ information, that were carried out during February 2021, allowed to detect possible legislative violations in the production and sale of tobacco products using created accounts in the messaging system such as mobile applications “Viber” and “WhatsApp”.

Business entity of Zaporizhia region carried out production and sale of tobacco products without paying the excise tax, without excise tax stamps on tobacco products and without relevant licenses.

Main Directorate of the STS in Zaporizhia region jointly with Investigative department of the SFS in Zaporizhia region seized inventory worth 16.3 million UAH in nine places of production and turnover of excisable goods (products) in order to terminate illegal activity.

Upon the completion of pre-trial investigation and receipt of materials, the taxpayer will be audited regarding the production of tobacco products without permission documents, as well as storage of tobacco products without excise tax stamps of the established standard and in places not included in the Unified register.

It should be noted that as of 03.03.2021, the business entity involved in illegal production of tobacco products was transferred to the legal sector of economy (such taxpayer purchased obtained license for the production of tobacco products on 12.02.2021).
