Students, representing the Student League of the Ukrainian Bar Association, made a study visit to the State Tax Service. Future lawyers had opportunity to get acquainted with activities of the Tax Service, its main functions and modern approaches to the tax administration.

“State Tax Service is always open to communication with young people. You are the future of our country and it is nice that you not only understand importance of paying taxes, but also think about how to make this process even simpler” – said acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh.

Students raised many important questions. Particularly, how to combat shadow economy and what the tax authorities are doing to achieve this – question that demonstrates desire of modern youth to work according to the clear and transparent rules in the state in which the tax system functions stably and efficiently.

Young people drew parallels with the tax systems of other countries and were interested in presence of such mechanisms in the domestic tax system.

Voluntary tax payment and tax culture – how to increase them, will the introduction of a progressive tax scale affect level of tax revenues to the budget and voluntariness of their payment.

“It is thanks to our youth, who are the bearers of new tax culture and who demand new radical changes and modern approaches from society and the state, that we are constantly improving our work. And we can already see that level of tax culture is constantly increasing” – emphasized Lesya Karnaukh.

She also noted that in the future, this indicator will depend on how much Ukrainians believe in their country and strive to develop and support it.

Event participants were told about the main areas of the Service’s work, tax payment peculiarities, main tax administration processes and modern digital services. Such knowledge will be useful to the new generation of lawyers who will protect the taxpayers’ rights and state in the future.

In addition, students had a tour of the Central Interregional Directorate for Work with Large Taxpayers, where they saw work of the Service’s specialists in practice.

State Tax Service called on young people to join ranks of the Tax Service and together change system for the better.
