Another year flew very fast. And according to the results of 2019, it is already possible to conclude that improved tourism infrastructure of Donetsk region has reflected in the growth rate of the tourist tax revenues.
Thus, the holidaymakers of Donetsk region left 3.6 million UAH of the tourist tax in the region during 12 months of 2019 – this is almost three times more than last year’s revenues.
As a rule, the most attractive for residents and visitors of the region in 2019 were the resort areas of the Azov coast – local budgets of Mariupol and Mangush district received 1.9 million UAH. However, the hiking trails to the Slavic Donetsk region’s monuments also became popular with their supporters, so that tourists paid an excess of 0.9 million UAH to the local budgets.
It should be reminded that the tourist tax is a local tax, funds of which replenish the local treasury and develop infrastructure of domestic tourism. Currently, the tax rates are differentiated according to the tourism types and are calculated on a fixed basis (regardless of the amount of the living wage) - from the amount of the minimum wage set for January 1 of the reporting year, which amounts to 4 723 UAH.
As follows, the tourist tax rate in 2020 is:
to 0,5% (for domestic tourism) – 23.61 UAH;
to 5% (for inbound tourism) – 236.15 UAH.
