Recently, Volyn tax specialists have been interviewing employers on topical issues regarding the salary payment by video conference. With live communication through modern information services, the tax specialists invite business leaders who do not always adhere to guarantees upon the payroll of salaries.
A monthly analysis of the financial and economic activities of enterprises and firms showed that a third of employers during the 1st quarter of 2020 paid less than the minimum salary. That is, almost five thousand employers-minimizers allowed the facts of underpayment to employees for various reasons. These Volyn employers have already informed about the reasons and ways to improve the situation at the meetings of special commissions at the district state administrations and the State Tax Service’s bodies. And more than half a thousand violating employers received warning letters from controlling authorities demanding that they comply with the law and not deprive employees from social guarantees.
“We understand that due to the quarantine introduction, many business entities are in a difficult situation. But, unfortunately, there are those who will use the situation to minimize taxes. To prevent the loss of social protection by employees and to ensure the budget revenues, we continue active communication with employers online’ – informed Head of Individual taxes and fees department Main Directorate of the STS in Volyn region Andrii Tkachuk.
Tax official emphasized that control over the level of salaries in current financial situation is of paramount social importance, provides a certain level of social stability.
“Today, we are particularly concerned about the fact that almost a third, 29% of the total number of profitable legal entities in Volyn region, accrued salary below the statutory minimum to their employees during January – April 2020. At the same time, employees have been in employment relations with such employers for a full month. Practice of such low salaries should be stopped, as it causes damage to the state and deprives citizens from social guarantees.” – summarized Andrii Tkachuk.
