During January – May 2020, the number of 1884 citizens of Odessa region used their right to obtain a tax rebate and the total amount of personal income tax for reimbursement is 6 million UAH.
Main Directorate of the STS in Odessa region informed that the Law of Ukraine as of 16.01.2020 № 466-IX “On amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine regarding improvement of tax administration, elimination of technical and logical inconsistencies in tax legislation” amended the Sub-paragraph 166.2.1 and 166.2.2 Paragraph 166.2 Article 166 of the Tax Code Of Ukraine (hereinafter – the TCU).
According to specified changes, the list of documents confirming the costs included in a tax rebate (payment and settlement documents, particularly, receipts, fiscal or commodity checks, income cash orders identifying the seller of goods (works, services) and the individual applying for a tax rebate (their buyer (recipient), as well as copies of contracts, if any, which must reflect the cost of such goods (works, services) and the term of payment for such goods (services).
It is also determined that copies of these documents (except for electronic settlement documents) are provided with the property and income declaration and originals of these documents are subject to storage by the taxpayer during the statute of limitations established by the TCU.
If the relevant documents are confirmed by an electronic settlement document, the taxpayer must indicate only the details of electronic settlement document in the tax declaration.
Thus, individuals – payers of the personal income tax, who in order to use the right to obtain a tax rebate will submit property and income declarations after May 23, 2020, with the tax declaration must also provide copies of documents proving expenses which are included in the tax rebate.
It should be reminded that that those wishing to use their right to obtain a tax rebate in 2019, should submit property and income declaration until December 31, 2020 inclusively.
